The Payment Card Industry Professional (PCIP)™ is the base, entry level qualification for an individual and provides a solid foundation for future career progression to other PCI qualifications. This personal qualification stays in effect as long as the individual continues to meet program requirements and is not affected by changes in employment assignments.

Registration Process

Payment Card Industry Professional (PCIP)™ Program enrolment process :

Step 1: Pre-reserve your seats
  • Complete the LiquidNexxus reservation form to pre-register your seats (this guarantees your seats so long as the rest of the application process is completed
Step 2: Compete the PCI SSC pre-requisite registration
  • Review the PCIP Qualification Requirements to confirm that you have the necessary experience and skillset to apply for this program. These Qualification Requirements will step you through the application process.
  • Select Instructor-Led Training including date and location of the session.
  • Then complete the short registration form online.
Step 3: Payment
  • Once the registration is reviewed and approved by the SSC you will receive an invoice from LiquidNexxus.
Step 4: Complete the Registration
  • When payment is received by LiquidNexxus, you will receive your login credentials to complete the full PCIP online application.
    • When you receive your login credentials you can access the portal where you can complete the registration process.
    • Please supply all documentation requested including your resume, a signed Attestation, and agree to the Code of Professional Responsibility.
Step 5: Training
  • To register for training, your application must be approved first. Once LiquidNexxus processes your payment, you will receive the exact course location and further instructions from LiquidNexxus. This is a one–day class.
Step 6: Exam
  • You’ll have 30 days from the conclusion of the course to take the Exam, for which you will receive a separate email from Pearson VUE with credentials and complete instructions on how to schedule your exam.


Candidates for PCIP qualification must have a minimum of two years relevant work experience in an IT or IT related role and must possess a base level of knowledge and awareness of information technology, network security and architecture, and the payment industry.

Candidates should familiarize themselves with background information regarding the PCI Standards and supporting documents by reviewing all of the material found in the document library on the PCI SSC website. Please read and understand the PCI DSS version 3.2 before taking the PCIP training and exam. 


Following the live instructor-led training candidates will have 30 days to take the exam. The student will have 90 minutes to complete a 60 question multiple choice exam at a local Pearson VUE Testing Center.  Should a candidate fail the exam the first time, s/he will be allowed to retake the exam up to three times (an exam retake fee will apply for each attempt).
